Mission...ideas?

Sorry. It was bugging me that I had nothing to do so I gave myself something to do. I do that.

Mission ideas boss lady! Do you have any cooking in your mind?

Actually I was planning on posting something like this, I have a few ideas rumbling around, I'm kind of waiting to see who we get to fill which parts before I go into a full briefing so we have something for everyone to do.

The First One would be sort of typical combat mission, in the Valoris Nebula against a Breen Vessel. To make it something worthy of mission length it would be in the same style of The Wrath of Khan, or submarine combat where both ships are stumbling blindly through the Nebula searching for each other. There would also be a boarding action segment to tie into a future mission where we take a visit to one of the Breen Colonies that ended up in Federation Space after the Nebula rotated a while back.

The next idea would be a more science-y fun mission. While the Indie is exploring the area around the Nebula we find a temporal anomaly. When we start doing a full investigation however, things start going very, very wrong. Sections of the ship from the past or future start trading places with the present leading to more than a few issues while we try to figure out what's going on and fixing it. This is intended to be more a of a funny mission, as we meet either our future selves, or get incarcerated by members of the crew from the past and the like.

The third idea takes us away form Breen Space, and closer to Ferengi Territory for an Ocean's 11 esque mission to retrieve..something. I just started working on this one. This mission is intended to come after the combat and colony mission and will involve what we found on the Colony exactly. Right now I'm thinking that it's dangerous piece of technology belonging to the Romulan's so that it also ties into what's going on with the aftermath of Hobus as well. Or possibly relating to the Breen's energy dampening or organic based technology.

And if there's any mission ideas you've got that you want to try out or pitch feel free to share! One thing I kind of want to stay away from are shoreleave missions as people tend to drop off during those, unless we can include some sort of theme or plot the shoreleave so people feel like it's not just a "Oh go do whatever" and that there's something for them to do if they want to as well.

First contact mission?

First Contact would be cool, I'm going to take a guess that it would be with your Vulnians?

Maybe. Possibly. Once we get people I think it would be more fair for people to have a say in the race rather than me to slap forth something and go "This is what we're doing!"

Good point. Maybe a planet or something that the Breen are targeting, or that the Ferengi are exploiting as well so it's not just "And now for something completely different"?

I'd like to use the Vulnians at some point but like you say, be good to start us off on the first 'season' as a familiar one.

Yeah, I'm sure we'll get to use them somewhere, you've got them written out very well. I've been looking at some of the other simms that have recently gone active and seems to take them a while to get there. I'm going to try to get us going as quick as possible, but in the mean time we might consider doing a little pre-launch mission so we have something to do.

Eeeeexcellent. More likely than not we'll attract a few if not a lot given our senior officer vacancies. Just uh...wait for someone sending you an angry PM about having a marine XO since it's "Not Trek"

Honestly I'm a bigger fan of the Hazard Teams idea, but most of my past characters have been intelligence so I can't really speak to the Not Trek thing when most people play them as James Bond or the CIA in space

I just do whatever It's one of those age-old debates that surfaces for no reason other than because people want to debate it. It's not because they believe what they're spouting but because it's new and shiny.

And they don't like new and shiny.

Also, I think we could have a HAZARD team rather than a marine squad. Could have marine ranks in it but...well, not many ships have a HAZARD team I think.

Yeah, that's something for the future though, maybe we could bring one on board for the First Contact Mission. Right now we just need to get the basic departments filled up.

Fun fact: We're the only Excelsior in the Fleet right now
