Skipper MIA :( Empty Skipper MIA :(

Post by Reneé Lucas Mon Dec 10, 2012 8:01 am

For some reason our skipper has gone MIA again. I hope it's computer problems or something that has a reason behind it rather than simply jumping ship. I got CC'd into an email from the TFCO which states that I'm in temporary command 'as he sees fit and until such time as either you are removed from command or you return and take full command of the ship.'

Scary stuff. Frankly I shit myself because Rena and Reneé are close names and I thought he was talking to me at first. I'm not sure what I want to do at this point since it seems we've ground to an apathetic halt, including myself. I'm holding the 'authority' at an arm's length like a housewife with a dead mouse at this point because it's somewhat unwanted.

Boss lady has seven days to respond to the email until she's removed. Seven days isn't a long time for massive computer issues but it has been since mid November. We've got two choices. I can recruit and promote us to an active status. I don't actually know what happens at that point even if she hasn't returned.

Or we wait the seven days. Your call.

If anyone wants forwarded the email to ensure the validity of the orders you need only ask.

I hate to immediately move on anything of this nature, but the not moving active is what has slowed my participation. I'd say wait the seven days and if there is no sign, move forward. Plus depending on situations if she returns one could abdicate to the other.

It's a shitty situation, the other alternative is to shut us down and move us to other simms which is not something I or any of us would want.n I want to say wait the 7 days and hopefully get some sort of response but after almost a month I doubt 7 days is going to change anything.

Crew of the Indefatigable. I normally don't post on your forums as I merely here just to oversee things and be ready to answer questions. But I will confirm that the email is correct; but I ask that it is not forwarded as it contains matters that are to (at the moment) be kept between myself, your CO and your XO.

I can confirm that your CO has been absent for now a whole month and has not indicated any leave of absence nor has made contact with myself regarding this absence. One month is too long for any CO to be absent without leave and without responding to emails, so I have begun the procedures of removal. It might be scary but I want to assure you that during the next seven days that I will be here on your forums to answer questions and queries that you might have. During the next seven days, either until that time has passed or the CO responds to my email; I have given authority for your XO (Captain Lucas) to move this current mission forward as seen fit as well as to promote and recruit for the simulation to achieve an active status. She will still hold and retain her current rank and position; however, under my eyes; she is Acting CO.

I ask that you continue as normal with your posting and your mission. During this time; the simulation is still a part of TF72; I am not going to see this simulation suffer. Your orders are to keep posting as normal regardless of the absence of your CO, normal ship and fleet posting levels still apply (at the moment, the fleet level is one post every week; unless the CO has made other arrangements). Please keep posting, because posting is one of the biggest tools to recruitment... show that you are active posters and the players will follow and the visitors will join.

These procedures will be followed to the letter, I will not circumvent them during this time. I will keep you all informed throughout this matter via email and an announcement on your forums.

Right well, looks like I've got some work to do.

Also I want it noted that I hope the reserve of Deus ex Machina that fuels the Federation doesn't run out or we'll see Starfleet as the ineffective and impotent military force that it is.

Exploration fleet my arse.

Argh! Bile!

Now that's said and done with, I best see about getting this mission on the go. I'm not actually sure what's happening with the ship after the seven days. Do we get a new CO? Do we get balls de l'moth?

Oliver Dougherty is also the Acting XO since no one else turned up to the interview. Also because he's the only other person with activity and an officer's rank.

Think we may have a problem with recruitment. As you may or may not be aware of this fact but I do NOT have admin access for some tick-picking reason. So, that means I cannot update records, groups nor anything else for that matter.

A pisser to be sure.

That is a problem. You do have the authority to approve/deny applications under the orders in the email. As for forum access and the like; there is only about 2 days left for the CO to respond, so I don't know if you want to move to a new forum if your planning on applying for command full-time

I suppose it's time to look at Forum motion....granted it's going to feel more like a copy/paste job.

Copy paste...copy paste...copy paste....photobucket ranks!

Even if someone takes the cake for the CO hat we could use this site anyway since it solves the admin issues and gives us a head start but my God we really need a new skin.

You can go the way of another free forum and free site. Once it goes online, you'll be able to link to the BF and the TF72 website, that is no issue... or if you ask for space on one of the free ST RPG hosting sites like StarfleetUK or something like that you can use software like phpbb, and then make sure that someone other than the CO has admin access in case this happens again

Forum motion sites like this are where I feel most at home. The functions are all clear as day and I'm not floating around lost. However I do need to remember to give some measure of admin access in case I'm on holiday or I get hit by a runaway car.

Oddly enough sometimes it does ask that the Founder be the only one to do things with installations of skins.

Pay no attention to the Vorta behind the curtain.

I'm sure you'll all sort it out, and as always, I will keep you updated (as TFCO) as to what is going on. I'm now off to bed since it is 11:30pm here

Right boys...and...well, boys. The forum is complete in its barebones form coupled with shameless copies and pastes. Honestly, it looks exactly the same except its a phpBB2 version forum, not phpBB3.

Somehow the categories don't like to play ball on 3 yet this forum speaks against that. It requires a closer look but in all purposes it's workable. However however however...think it's wise to see who gets what and then work from there.

I just hope the CO likes forums as a gift.

I have been a CO in bravofleet and other sim fleets I can open up a new forum for us until we either get a new co or you get approval to captain this one, failing the return of Markov. Either way I'd be happy to do so.

Thanks for the offer mate. I managed to beat it into submission so it's all set. More or less. The only problem is the admin stuff which is more to do with recruitment, which I can't do anyway.

To keep you updated all; still no word. According to my gmail account; it has been 6 days since I emailed your CO about this long unexplained absence and nothing has come back (including through my spam/junk emails), but I will keep you informed and make an announcement sometime tomorrow as to what is going on
